This new sensor enhances the company's position as the leader in distance measurement products. The DS30 combines simple push button setup with incredible detection performance – all in an industry standard housing. The DS30 line is a proximity style sensor with a single PNP or NPN output capable of detecting virtually any target within its 2-meter range.
What makes the DS30 unique is its ability to detect flat black and shiny targets at the same range repeatedly. Many other sensors will see a brighter target as closer to the sensor than a darker target; this is called a black/white shift. High performance sensors like the SICK DME and DT500 series have color-independent detection and measurement as well, but this type of performance has never been offered in a sensor the size and at the price of a DS30.
Applications include pallet bay/bin empty/full detection, loop control for web materials – like paper, plastic, rubber, and metals, and for detecting parcels, packages and objects with shiny surfaces to trigger SICK bar code scanners.
