About Specialty Computer Peripherals
Specialty computer peripherals include specialized or proprietary products or accessories related to computer peripherals. Specialty computer peripherals include keyboards and mice, flat panel displays, plotters and printers, drawing tablets, serial and USB cables, and all kinds of storage devices. USB is an acronym for universal serial bus. Some specialty computer peripherals include devices designed specifically for industrial applications. Others are suitable for home or consumer use.
A common type of computer hardware peripheral is the back-up storage or disk drive. Other common computer hardware peripherals input devices such as mice or other pointers, and output devices such as printers. A specialty computer peripheral is attached to an existing computer network through serial or USB ports. A wireless computer accessory is networked to the system through a wireless access point. Specialty computer peripherals are often industry-specific; for example, graphic designers use special drawing tablets and scanners that are designed for refined illustration or fine art work. Other specialty computer peripherals include laboratory or research equipment that can be networked with a personal computer for data gathering and analysis. A custom computer peripheral for a laboratory might include a microscope, spectrometer, or other measurement device.
